A few things about this outfit are relatively new. The pants are my current favorites–from Lauren Conrad, they're relaxed and comfy in the most gorgeous light wash. I'm still in love with this oversized sweater from Margaret O'Leary–it's also comfortable enough to wear everyday. This bag comes close to purse perfection for me–top-handled, structured, quality leather, and black, it's an iconic style from Oushka London. The brand is available in UK stores like House of Fraser, Top Shop, and Fenwicks and is known for their simple but well-made totes. Oh, and if you look closely you may spy the newest addition to my Tiffany & Co. collection: a tiny–and too cute–"XO" bracelet designed by Paloma Picasso and given to me as a (surprise) gift from my boyfriend.

I've mentioned my "wear something lace" rule for Valentine's Day, and this year that took the form of an amazing Clare Vivier clutch my boyfriend surprised me with from a recent Shopbop sale. I also snuck in a touch of red–I rarely do a bold lip (I'm always more interested in playing up my eyes with lots of eyeliner and shadow shading) but on a special night it always seems like a fun way thing to do.
What do you think? What did you wear on Valentine's Day night?

When the prices of the Neiman Marcus + Target Collection took a sharp dive (70% percent off for those who may not have been following along), I ended up shopping the collaboration a lot more than I had ever intended. This Marc Jacobs scarf was one of those discounted purchases (along with the designer's leather pouch and Robert Rodrigez's lace dress). This is my favorite kind of weekend outfit: comfy jeans, an even comfier leather jacket (seriously, it's the best one I've ever owned), and simple flats. My arm party just recently got some new additions: you may be able to spot a gorgeous silver skull bracelet that was sent to me by LeiVanKash (who I partnered with back in December along with Nokia for a fashion quest challenge) and a delicate beaded bracelet by Beso Beso, a charming and unique jewelry line of pieces made to be layered.

Browsing through online boutiques is a dangerous pastime of mine–it's impossible not to fall in love with at least one piece when you're looking at a carefully curated selection. These jeans came from the incredibly sweet woman behind Haden Reid, an online retailer of truly fabulous–and luxe–clothes, shoes, and accessories (I can personally attest to this fact–these skinnies are so comfy and glam I never want to take them off). The boutique, which was established in 2008 and named after its founder's two sons, has a wide variety of merchandise and brands. My favorite section? 'Celebrity Picks'–there you can score lots pieces as seen on a selection of stars.
You can keep up-to-date with Haden Reid's latest finds–and sales–by following the boutique on Twitter and Facebook.

It's no secret I've that I love Tiffany & Co. jewelry–as I mentioned in this interview for a recent style challenge, to me it's irresistibly classy, timeless, and old New York. I've had two favorite lines from the brand for ages: one is Elsa Peretti's 'Diamonds by the Yard' (from which I own two pieces, thanks to my very sweet boyfriend) and the other is Paloma Picasso's 'Sugar Stacks.' I don't know if it's their rainbow-like array of transparent colors or their textured sparkle (so festive), but one look at the candy-like square-stoned rings and I always want to smile. I really like their plain bands, simple prongs, and that they're made to be stacked–although they'd look just as good as a statement ring. There's only one problem–I'd find it very difficult to choose just one color.
This backdrop was too good to pass by without stopping for a mini-photoshoot. I love it when temperatures warm up after a flurry and you can go outside without freezing to enjoy the sight of (mostly melting) snow. A mild fall day means I can still wear my favorite pair of torn jeans–I can't recommend these enough they're so comfortable. I love pairing polished accessories like these oversized plastic-framed sunglasses, structured blazer, and patent-capped flats with the light and worn denim. A little bit of contrast goes a long way for a relatively simple casual look.

It's been a cold and rainy few days here in New York–and the forecast for the beginning of this week predicts more of the same. While I'm not sure that I'm ever ready for dipping temperatures, I do know that the perfect way to spend a rainy weekend involves throwing on a pair of cute flats and a light cardigan and exploring the Upper West Side. The place manages to look beautiful even while under gray skies and dotted with puddles.

I love fall fashion for outfits like this one. Lots of layers, cozy sweaters, long scarves–it's all about staying warm the easy way before heavy, bulky, and uninteresting jackets and coats are a necessity. I fell in love with this sweater when I first saw it (I'm such a huge fan of anything Rachel Roy). Slouchy yet detailed, it's a updated take on chunky cable knits that ended up being well-suited for a gray autumn day spent seaside. The "Rocco," structured but edgy with its studs, was a perfect fit too–not that I really needed to find a reason to wear a birthday gift of my dreams.

As promised, the rest of this week's posts feature my weekend trip to Newport, RI (for this set of photos I'm standing in front of 'Marble House,' the summer home of William and Alva Vanderbilt, but more on the area's famous manions tomorrow). On this day the weather was a bit overcast, which meant I had the perfect excuse to wear the perfectly-tailored faux-leather trimmed blazer I recently found on a Macy's sales rack. Of course I can't forget to mention my birthday present and newest handbag addition. I've loved Alexander Wang's 'Rocco' duffle for ages, and my incredibly sweet boyfriend complelty surprised me with one this year. It's gorgeous—I still can't stop staring or smiling.
