{things i wore} riding boots

Pumpkin picking is an annual tradition for my boyfreind and I so I'm glad we were able to squeeze it in before Hurricane Sandy hit New York (although my wind-swept look in these pictures is all her fault). This outfit was less of a "I really had a chance to style it until it's perfect" and more of a "there's a hurricane coming so let's hurry before things get worse" type of invention. Still, I couldn't have been more comfortable, cozy, and pumpkin-patch appropriate in my favorite oversized blazer, skinnies, and flat boots.

{things i wore} cargo jeans

I may or may not have mentioned my season-long search for a white blazer, but needless to say it has been a bit all-consuming whenever I've stepped into a store lately. That's why I swear I must have heard cheering, whistles, and a heavenly choir when I saw this jacket last weekend at H&M. I let the celebration last only a spilt-second before I dashed to secure the last one in my size. While I can't take full credit for spotting the blazer since my boyfriend saw it first–yes, things had gotten so bad that I enlisted his help–now that the hunt has finally ended I can move onto styling it. I've been looking for ways to wear an old pair of cargo skinnies for ages, so I threw it on with my favorite sling-backs and silk tee, wore my red satchel as a clutch, and was set for a perfect night out.

{things i wore} lace tee

It's no secret I that love lace (I did design my blog's layout after all), so when I saw that Jason Wu's line for Target had a version of his signature lace tee I knew I'd found the piece I wanted. Then I remembered the Missioni madness of last year and decided I wouldn't partake in the company's badly managed designers-for-less sales strategies anymore. I even planned on featuring the actual Jason Wu lace-detail tee (which retailed for a staggering $515) as I "thing i covet." But then my sister went shopping and returned with none other than my dream piece in a plastic bag dotted with bullseyes (she also snagged a very summery straw and canvas clutch for me that I can't wait to wear). The tee is everything I wanted: soft and comfy but with a subtle wow-factor, my favorite way to wear it is with jeans and blazer.

{things i wore} leather satchel

On gray days nothing cheers me up more than injecting some color into an outfit. From now on I'll never have to look any further than this bag–how perfect is its shade of "pillarbox" red? Not only does the color pop in a subtle way, the name itself is so very English. The Leather Satchel Co., which crafted this customized creation just for me in Britain, is absolutely incredible: everything is hand-made to order from heavy leather and strong hardware. Most importantly, it's so easy to wear: the shape is timeless and converts from shoulder bag to clutch, casual to formal, with ease.

What do you think? Check out the gallery of available colors here and tell me which you'd pick if you were to get a satchel for yourself. With so many options, I still want to know if I made the right choice!
