Don't you just hate it when the word "snowmageddon" creeps into the weather forecast seemingly out of nowhere? Despite the fact that I refuse to believe two feet of snow is a possibility for NYC, a significant amount of the white stuff is predicted to fall by late tomorrow evening. I'll look on the bright side of things and talk snow boots–I've had my eye on a pair as nice as these for some time. Jimmy Choo's iconic biker boots have been a long-time favorite of celebrities and chic shoppers for ages, but the brand's rabbit fur-lined version seems exceptionally interesting to me after this particularly cold winter. From their tasteful buckles to their soft, slouching leather, I can't think of a better way to stay warm.

I've admired this Zara plaited shopper from afar–as in on other bloggers and celebs–and up close–meaning on store shelves–for a long time. It's not hard to see why: super pigmented leather, simple lines, minimal hardware, and top handles make it pretty much my ideal handbag. Still, I never took the plunge to pick one up for myself. Lucky for me, my boyfriend likes buying me handbags as much as I like talking about them to him. A discussion one day about how long/hard I had been lusting over this one led to it arriving on my doorstep a few days later. Pretty amazing, right? (And yes I'm talking about both him and the shopper.)
P.S. As promised, I'm living in these Genetic Denim jeans from the Haden Reid Boutique (check out it's Facebook page here)–they're so fitted but oh-so-comfy.

I'm finding it difficult to believe that I wore this outfit and took these pictures only one day before the City was blanketed with 6+ inches of snow. It's been one heck of a past two weeks weather-wise–from a hurricane to roller-coaster temperatures to a Nor'easter–welcome to life with climate change I suppose. As long as I still have the chance to put together transitional outfits like this one I'll keep smiling. I can still wear my summer maxis if cropped jackets and booties are involved.
P.S. The wait is over….Erica is the winner of the Linge Shoes ballet flats giveaway! Look out for an email from me! x

Have you ever impulse-purchased something without so much as a clue as to how you'd style or wear it? That was me with this shirt. When I spotted it on a clearance rack at Target, my first thought was: "Of course it's marked down–it's a sheer lace tank top." My second thought, not far behind, was markedly different in tone: "I've got to buy it–it's marked down and it's black lace" (look at my blog's layout and you'll understand the obsession). Still, the shirt languished unworn in my closet for some time. Here I paired it with some less delicate pieces–like ripped jeans and a studded handbag–to temper its lovely but lady-like lace.

There are certain fashion staples I begin to miss as summer fades. Floaty maxi dresses are definitely hard to part with–they're comfy and practically style themselves. This Judith March dress was sent to me by the wonderful Ladyee Boutique, a chic online store that curates an amazing collection of ultra feminine pieces (their selection of dresses alone is phenomenal). I love the bold floral print on this maxi and the subdued colors–it's a perfect way to send off the hottest season.

From the moment I first spotted this dress in store, I knew I had to have it. I adore Rachel Roy and it really showcased the bold prints that are her trademark. Plus, it had a near-perfect color combination: all my favorites–black, purple, sand–were there. Things only got better once I'd tried it on. Not only was it fun to wear–I'm all about asymmetry lately–it was unbelievably comfortable. There was just one problem: as with any statement piece, it's sometimes hard to find an appropriate venue to showcase your find. Luckily for me our trip helped–the dress was the perfect fit for a late-night dinner at our resort with its tropical plants, tiki torches, and hammock-lined beaches.

I couldn't have been more excited when I spotted these bright blue shorts on a sales rack in Banana Republic. My only regret is that I hadn't found them earlier in the season (although my wallet thanks me–they would have probably been full price and I would have had to have them). I love their pop of color and structured fit. They're attention grabbing but in smart way.

I tend to shy away from bright colors and I rarely mix different shades on my own. This red and blue maxi dress, sent to me by the lovely lady behind the shop Bella Fusion, has convinced me otherwise. Combining two primary colors seems so simple that I can't believe I never thought to do it on my own. Bonus? Bella Fusion is all about giving back, and so for every piece purchased from their site $1 is donated to the Because I Am A Girl foundation, which address the issue of gender discrimination around the world by promoting female rights. I just love shopping for a cause, don't you?

I love wearing wrap dresses. They're comfortable, versatile, and easy to style. In the summer, I get a lot of use out of this light navy version for all those reasons, plus it's a great length that offers some variety from the omni present maxi. In case you're wondering, that bit of writing on one my bangles reads "Non te posso lassare"–Italian for "I cannot leave you," a sweetly romantic line lifted directly from a piece of Italian Renaissance art. Sometimes it's nice to be reminded that certain sentiments are a whole lot older than we are.

If you had asked me a few years ago what my favorite color clothing was I'd have said black. While it's often still my go-to (it's just so easy to match things when you're wearing it), I have a new appreciation for all sorts of colors, prints, and patterns. I love the pop of my yellow bag next to the watercolor design of my skirt, but most of all I adore my new bracelets: they're a pale minty green leather set off by gorgeous gold bars and they make any of my outfits more interesting. Amy Fine's shop carries these bangles in every color you could imagine, from periwinkle blue to bamboo yellow. So while black-colored clothing used to enjoy a starring role in my wardrobe, I find myself now using it to anchor the other hues I'm wearing.
