Don't you just hate it when the word "snowmageddon" creeps into the weather forecast seemingly out of nowhere? Despite the fact that I refuse to believe two feet of snow is a possibility for NYC, a significant amount of the white stuff is predicted to fall by late tomorrow evening. I'll look on the bright side of things and talk snow boots–I've had my eye on a pair as nice as these for some time. Jimmy Choo's iconic biker boots have been a long-time favorite of celebrities and chic shoppers for ages, but the brand's rabbit fur-lined version seems exceptionally interesting to me after this particularly cold winter. From their tasteful buckles to their soft, slouching leather, I can't think of a better way to stay warm.

{things i liked} khloe kardashian & coral heels

Is Khloe my least favorite Kardashian? Possibly–I'm not the most avid watcher of the family's multiple reality shows but in the episodes I have seen (and of course enjoyed) she does seem to be the most meddlesome. Don't get me wrong, I love her outfits just as often as I do some of the ones put together by Kim and Kourtney. The hair, the shoes, the handbags– all consistantly trendy, expensive, and amazingly well-coordinated. This outfit caught my eye for two reasons: one, it's so floaty and spring-like, and two, those shoes. A 5.5 inch heel, two-toned bright color, and an ankle strap? Be still my heart. I love Jimmy Choo more and more every day.

{things i liked} nina dobrev & a cut-out gown

I felt a bit underwhelmed by the Oscars' red carpet and awards show this past Sunday but that feeling disappeared when the photos starting trickling in of stars arriving at viewing and after parties. While I loved a few gowns from this post-Awards set–Cameron Diaz, Victoria Beckham, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley top my list–my favorite look of the night was Nina Dobrev in a Fall 2012 J. Mendel dress with a pleated skirt, structured bodice, and deep neckline. The detailing at the shoulder set off her hips and accentuated her tiny waist in a sexy but understated way. I have to admit, if I had to walk the Oscars red carpet I'd pick something black and accessorize with lots of sparkle like Nina did. I thought the fishtail braid was a youthful and unique touch–and was shocked to find out she had it done for $25 at "braid bar" Nine Zero One in West Hollywood. Pretty fabulous for something so affordable!

What do you think? What was your favorite look from the 2012 Academy Awards?

{things i liked} kate middleton & a velvet gown

Kate Middleton has worn quite a few stunning dresses since last year's announcement of her engagement to Prince William. If you pay attention you'll notice they're almost always in shades of red, blue, and white, which is one reason why she absolutely wowed in black at the Sun Military Awards in London this week. Sure, the glittering princess-y jewels she wore should have stolen the show (her spokesperson has said the ruby and diamond set were a wedding gift), but I was truly captivated by the dramatic and mature flared flair of the velvet gown. With all its alterations–the bottom was originally sheer, the top ruffle has been added, and the bodice no doubt has been taken in to hug her long torso–the piece fit and flattered her perfectly.  As I overheard on Twitter, Kate's introduced us to the new LBD – the long black dress.

Special thanks to one of my favorite sites What Kate Wore for helping identify all of these items (next time Kate makes an appearance, head over to the WKW's Facebook page and watch in real time as everyone tries to identify what she's wearing– it's addictive.)

p.s. don't forget to enter my giveaway.

{things i liked} kristin cavalleri & a patterned sweater

Suede heels, skinny jeans, and a deeply draped sweater aren't exactly the most practical things to wear when going pumpkin picking. As if those pieces weren't attention-grabbing enough, Kristin Cavalleri paired them all with a boldly printed oversized sweater on October 19 in Beverly Hills. The result? Fabulous. The sweater's combo of burgundy and taupe is lovely, and although she did wear colors similar to the print, the tones varied enough to keep things from being too matchy-matchy.  I'm thinking of heading to a nearby patch soon and I must admit her look is giving me some outfit inspiration. I think I'll steer clear of suede footwear though– New York fields tend to be pretty muddy, apparently completely unlike their Californian counterparts.

{things i covet} candy glitter clutch by jimmy choo

[Photo from Neiman Marcus - $595, available here]

As the name implies–Candy? Glitter? I'm interested!–this clutch from Jimmy Choo is all kinds of fun. I love how its smooth contours and rounded edges contrast with the front flap's dramatically slashed line. In gold, I think it would match with just about anything, a useful quality in a clutch. And glitter coated leather encased in acrylic is different but subtle enough to make the bag a statement piece that will enjoy a long shelf life in your closet.
