Denim on demin–it's so hard to get right, but when the shades are different enough to make a good contrast, the resulting outfit can work. I found this shirt ages ago in Target and I still love its softness and faded color. The black and pale pink tote however is brand-new. I snagged it during J.Crew's last big sale and I'm so happy I did. The contrasting color is sold out now (solids are still available) and it's what I like best about the style.

I have a problem: as soon as I buy something new, I want to wear it almost immediately. This habit helps me justify purchases–if I'm not excited, then I can pass–but it's also why I may have rushed things a bit here. You see I saw new sandals in Zara, I bought said sandals, and soon after began styling them in my head and in reality. Was it warm enough for them? Yes, but just barely. Did I care? No, not fully. But that's enough about my shoes–I love this black and white (my favorite) necklace from Sira & Mara just as much. The brand was founded in 2011 by Sandy Bodeau in honor of her own love of fashion and traved–now that's a passion that knows no season.

I couldn't resist this coat when I spotted it in Macy's a few months ago. Calvin Klein just knows how to get it right with outerwear. Super soft and easy-to-wear with its belted wrap-around style, it helped round out my winter wardrobe. As a side note, I never realized how great the color combination of gray, white and black is . Elegant and classy, the grouping is a easy way to update same-old black and white dressing.

This is the sort of winter-weather dressing that I can tolerate–sweaters not layers of coats, flats not boots, scarves not gloves–and all in a fairly monochromatic color scheme that I absolutely love. This cable-knit piece is something I bought ages ago from J.Crew and I'm happy I invested the money in it then. It's warm, tailored, and super soft without being itchy or uncomfortable–aka the perfect sweater.

My comments about this outfit boil down to three simple points. One: if you've ever considered buying this House of Harlow necklace, do it–it's so well-made and instantly finishes a look. Two: Essie's 'Skirting the Issue', a semitransparent burgundy, is my new favorite nail polish color. And lastly, three: if you haven't browsed Oasap, the online fashion emporium that sent me this spectacular maxi dress (which I had so much fun winterizing), you're really missing out. They have pages and pages of pieces inspired by the latest trends at reasonable prices–it's impossible not to find something you'll like.

For the briefest of moments last week the weather was warm enough to pass for spring. I of course didn't hesitate for a second and put on a skirt I've been dying to wear–a neon bandage mini sent to me from Shop September. The online boutique has a great concept: they listen to their shoppers through polls and chats in order to stock items that people actually want to buy. The result? Merchandise that's popular but also relevant and up-to-date. I for one am still loving the neon trend (I'm mentally planning more outfits for this piece) and can't wait to enjoy it more fully as temperatures get higher and skies get sunnier.
P.S. Don't forget to check back later for your chance to win something for yourself from Shop September and for the winner of last week's giveaway!

With Valentine's Day less than one week away, I'd be lying if I said I haven't already thought of a few date-night outfit ideas (you can never be too prepared, right?). Since my one rule is to always include a bit of lace for the holiday, this ivory tunic dress would definitely fit the bill. FashForward Boutique, a carefully curated online shop of similarly-styled clothes and accessories, sent me the piece and it was love at first sight.I adore anything lace–the dress' frayed scalloped edges are to-die-for gorgeous–and I love how the piece can be dressed up or down and made appropriate for the winter or the summer with just a few accessories.
p.s. It's time for another giveaway and this one's pretty amazing…one lucky winner will be able to choose an of item of their choice from FashForward Boutique just like I did. Check back tomorrow for all the details on how to win! x

When the lovely women behind Posh'mina–an innovative company that puts slits or sleeves into oversized scarves so they can be worn effortlessly draped with any outfit–said they'd be sending me one of their creations, I for a very unfounded second pictured causal spring/summer type layering. Unfortunately the reality of New York in February is more about function than fashion so I've been enjoying this particular version–in a luscious black aptly named "Midnight"–slung over my shoulders or wound around my neck. It will have to hold me over till things get warmer–and then I can wear this gorgeous print with lighter colors and–gasp–bare arms.
