engagement photos, part one

I am so excited to finally share my engagement photos with all of you! My sister, who’s an amazingly thoughtful and careful photographer (she’s done so much behind-the-scenes photography work for this blog) took these shots for us on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon at the end of the summer last year.

I love photography (obviously), and though we’re taking pictures all the time, I really wanted a dedicated shoot to commemorate our engagement. I didn’t have to think twice about where I wanted it set–this gorgeous historic New York park is where my grandfather took my parents’ wedding photos over thirty years ago (I teased the spot and what we wore on my social media).  I find props distracting so we abstained from using any and we tried to create simple, natural poses (royal engagement photography was my biggest inspiration). As for our outfits, again we tried to keep things as simple and classic as possible. We had a truly great time taking the pictures–though I did get bitten by many mosquitoes, it was well worth it!

Hope you enjoy them as much as I still do!
