I’ve been going to Lancaster, Pennsylvania with my family for as long as I can remember. It’s a pretty manageable drive from New York City (it’s almost always a day trip for us) yet the change in atmosphere is huge. I love the rolling hills, open skies, and quiet air. It’s great in every season, but summer is perfectly hot and green. We usually do some outlet shopping and have dinner at a smorgasbord, but it’s always a treat to also stop in Kitchen Kettle Village, a small but bustling family-owned shopping center. A quick tour of the place must include their ice-cream and popcorn stand. Everything is fresh and local, meaning the taste is out-of-this-world. Seriously, their mint chocolate chip ice cream is the best I’ve ever had (p.s. that’s David and I’s shared favorite flavor)!
